A partnership of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) and the Political Science Department, the Governance Group serves as the primary center for applied research on governance and institutions in the University of Pittsburgh.  Comprised of over a dozen faculty members from five different departments within the University, the Group’s main objectives are:

  • To extend, integrate, and focus the University of Pittsburgh’s commitment to exploring issues related to governance and institutional design and strengthening—both internationally and domestically
  • To support interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects among teams of faculty and graduate students to work on understanding and solving critical problems related to governance and institutional strengthening
  • To maintain a productive dialogue between the academic and policy making communities in the process of translating theory into practice
